The TCEC Database provides cutting-edge opening insights based on thousands of engine-vs-engine games from the Top Chess Engine Championship (TCEC). Within the Repertoire Builder, this card helps you explore how the world’s strongest chess engines handle each position — revealing deeply optimized, computer-level continuations that often go far beyond human theory.

TCEC Database Moves

For the current position, this section displays:

  • The most common next moves played by top engines, highlighted in green if they already exist in your opened item
  • The number of games in which each move appeared across TCEC seasons
  • The percentage frequency of each move within the dataset
  • The Win–Draw–Loss (WDL) percentages based on engine results

You can click on any move to add it directly to your opened item. This allows you to expand your repertoire with the most deeply tested continuations known to modern engines.

This feature helps you:

  • + Discover the strongest and most frequently chosen moves by top chess engines
  • + Add optimal engine continuations directly into your repertoire or library items
  • + Use objective, machine-tested data to refine your theoretical preparation
